UMM Survey: Prabowo's Electability Leads in East Java, Most Popular Presidential Candidate


Jakarta - A survey conducted by the Political Science Laboratory of Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM) captured the electability of presidential candidates in East Java. 


The results show that Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto is ahead of Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.


In the pre-2024 Presidential Election survey, Prabowo's electability takes the first place with a support rate of 37.3%.


This number stands 3.1% apart from Ganjar, who is hovering around 34.2% of the votes. Meanwhile, Anies Baswedan occupies the lowest position with a percentage of 7.1%.


Not only leading the presidential candidate rankings, but Prabowo also stands out as the most popular figure. Coordinator of UMM's Political Science Laboratory Survey Team, Ruli Inayah Ramadhan, states that the popularity of the Gerindra Party Chairman reaches an impressive 90%.


"For popularity, Prabowo is in the first place with 90.5% of respondents recognizing him, followed by Ganjar at 83.9%," said Ruli.


"While Anies Baswedan is in fourth place with a score of 71.3% after East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa," he added.


The Political Science Laboratory of UMM conducted the survey from July 5 to 10, 2023. The survey involved 800 respondents from 80 selected neighborhoods and villages in 31 regencies and cities in East Java.
